1-Which houseplant is your weakness?
I don’t really have one particular plant weakness, my taste is kind of all over the place. I’m kind of obsessed with Hoya and Pothos right now which is funny because I used to not like either of them. 🤣

2- How have plants and plant care changed your life?
My plants kind of center me, just being around them and tending them calm my mind and help bring me down on high anxiety days.

3-What was your first plant?
My first plant was a bromeliad. My husband bought it before he deployed and I stuck it on a dark shelf and it died a slow death. Around our first anniversary, my MIL gave us some African Violet cuttings from some plants that came from his great grandmother. Nine years later and I still have them

4- If you had any plant to give a special person, which would it be and why?
Number 4 is such a hard question. It all depends on the person and the care they could give or were willing to give. I try to be thoughtful when gifting plants by figuring out what they already have, the time they have to dedicate, their own personal taste. I try to set them up for success. Overall, ZZ plants are pretty easy so they’re usually a good one to gift to anyone. I really love the Ravens because I love all things black. I actually just bought one for my bestfriend as a housewarming present for when she moves into her new place. She tends to kill everything except her succulents and the ZZ is similar in care except for the light requirements.

5- What tip would you give our HPA readers in regards to plant care?
A tip I would give fellow HPA readers is to just be with your plants daily and observe them. I don’t water on a schedule because they all have different needs and suck up water at different rates. Just being around them daily, sticking your finger in the soil, cleaning leaves is both good for you and the plants. It can help you decompress and can help stop the spread of pests because you’re more likely to see things going on sooner if you have eyes on them frequently
