What was your first houseplant?

My first plant was a Cacti, but my first real INDOOR plant was a snake plant that my fiancé brought me. We still have it two years on and it’s grown four new leaves in the last month.

How did you discover your love of houseplants?

I discovered my love for plants when I first brought some cactuses, I soon began obsessed/ I own cups,shirts,pillows,phone cases, drink bottles, books anything cacti print I had to have I even have a tattoo of a cactus down most of my right arm. But my love for plants and gardening I think had come from my nan, she’s always been into gardening her house always looked perfect when it came to her plants – indoors and outdoors. I just love how original each and every plant is and how they bring so much colour and happiness into the home.

What is your FAVORITE houseplant?

My all time favourite plant would have to be a snake plant or a spider plant.

If you had any houseplant to give to a special person, which would you choose and why.

If I could choose to give any plant to a special someone id choose either a snake plant or a sting ray plant – I think I’d choose the snake plant because it’s very hard to kill just like my love for that special someone😊 and I think why I’d choose to give them a stingray plant is because one they’re a very rare plant to me and two a stingray is my favourite animal so by giving it to a special someone they’d always have a piece of me or I’d hope there’s always think of me every time they looked at it

What tip or advice would you give HPA readers in regards to houseplant care?

DONT OVER WATER! I recently purchased a moisture meter stick and it is a GAME CHANGER you simply stick the stick into the soil a few CMS deep and watch the dial turn to either ‘Dry, Moist or Wet’ and it makes watering a lot easier, since buying this moisture meter my plants have never looked so healthy.
