1-Which houseplant is your weakness?

Um, the one cactus I’ve continuously failed to keep alive is the moon cactus! I have tried different soil techniques, watering, sun, and I just always kill them.

2-How have plants and plant care changed your life?

I have always had an interest in plants since I was little kid, but I didn’t purchase my own until I was graduated from high school. Plants have shown me my true passion in life and the degree I want to focus on. I just recently received my Associates degree in Science but want to go back to school for my Bachelor’s degree in Botany. I feel more in touch with myself watching my plants grow and thrive. It’s like I have unlocked a new side of myself.

3-What was your first plant?

My very first plant was a succulent. Prince (named after the singer) is a green prince I believe, although Walmart really sucks at labeling! lol

4- If you had any plant to give a special person, which would it be and why?

If I could give a special someone a plant, it would be a Killarney Fern. After doing a research project for my botany class, I have fallen in love with the rare Killarney. I hope to do research on them in Ireland someday.

5- What tip would you give our HPA readers in regards to plant care?

I think the one tip that I have been commenting on is about pots. Bigger doesn’t always mean better. A plant will focus on root growth if the pot is too big causing it to not give so much growth to it’s leaves, flowers, etc. I don’t think a lot of people know or realize that. All I can say is plants are my passion. I am constantly collecting, growing, and soon-to-be propagating. They are a true asset to our lives. After all, without plants we wouldn’t be here.
